Copper Leg Art residency located in northern Estonia, near to the Estonian capital city Tallinn. Activities began in summer 2017 with the help of local municipality and Rae Culture Center. It is a meeting point for creative people, visual artists, musicians, writers etc. for making their art and showing it to people.

About Copper Leg Residency

Located 18 km from Tallinn city center, in the village of Vaskjala, in an old school building surrounded by fields. The house was constructed in 1934 and newly renovated in summer 2017. The area is very calm and surrounded by beautiful nature which makes it a quiet space to live and work. At the same time, the Estonian capital city Tallinn is easily reachable, one can get to the City center in 25 min. by bus or in 15 min. by car.

Copper Leg Art Residency invites artists of all disciplines
to apply for residencies in a serene setting in Vaskjala village, Rae Parish, Harju County, Estonia.
This residency is ideal for artists and creatives who want to develop new projects or explore and push the boundaries of their current practice.

The residency is located in an old school building in Vaskjala village, surrounded by fields and a garden, providing a quiet and inspiring environment for artistic work.

Copper Leg offers home-type accommodation with private bedrooms, a shared kitchen, and a sauna. Residents have access to shared studio space, a photography darkroom, a printing press, basic hand and electric tools, basic sound equipment, and a piano.

Residencies are available for periods of one to two months between November 2025 and June 2026.

Resident artists are expected to take care of and respect the environment, keeping all residency facilities clean, safe, and presentable at all times. Artists are encouraged to establish a presence within the municipality and local community, spend time developing their own body of work, and engage the public through workshops, demonstrations, or legacy projects within the Rae Cultural Centre, local schools, the neighborhood, and events or festivals.

Residents are responsible for their own travel, living, and material expenses.

The Copper Leg Art Residency program aims to support the free mobility of artists and provide a safe, welcoming environment where residents have the time and space to focus on their work.

To apply please send a motivation letter including a short personal introduction, a description of proposed project or current work, and preferred residency dates, along with a CV and five to ten samples of recent work or a link to a website.
