This Saturday, November 17th
From 18:00 to 21:00, guests can explore the residency space & its doings. At 19.00, we will open an exhibition of our new resident Elvira Akzhigitova. Elvira is a photo artist who was born in Tallinn, Estonia, but lives and works in Berlin, Germany. In her work, she focuses mainly on analog photography techniques, experimenting with the magical properties of light-sensitive material in the darkroom. On her exhibition, you can see luminograms and electric photos made during her stay at Copper Leg Art Residency.

Friday, September 21st.
From 18:00 – 21:00, guests can explore the residency space & its doings. Friday, September 21st. Starting at 18.30, there will be an art tour where we introduce the artworks of past Copper Leg Residency artists including outdoor objects from members of the Art Container (Kilian Ochs, Tanel Saar, Janno Bergmann), Federica Cogliandro & Giulia Lanza, Shiskin – Hokusai, Simon Whetham, Chad Stayrook.

At 19.00, we will open the exhibition of our new resident, Nina Jørgensen. Nina is a Mexican-Danish artist who currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany. On the exhibition, we will see drypoint prints inspired by the Vaskjala’s landscapes.

Saturday, August 18th
From 17:00 – 20:00, guests can explore the residency space & its doings, including the work of our current artist in residence, Chad Stayrook. At 18:00, Chad will screen a series of short films and at 19:00 he will unveil his new installation built during his time in residence and installed in the Rae Schoolhouse courtyard. Chad Stayrook is an American installation artist living and working in New York.

Also on view will be works of past Copper Leg Residency artists including: outside objects from the members of Art Container (Kilian Ochs, Tanel Saar, Janno Bergmann), Federica Cogliandro & Giulia Lanza, Shiskin – Hokusai, Simon Whetham.

From 15:30 to 18:00, guests can explore residency space & its doings. At 16:00 we will open a new installation at the Rae Schoolhouse courtyard, by author Simon Whetham, a sound artist in our residency from Bristol, England. In addition, you can see the works of other authors who have been in the Copper Leg Residency. Outside objects from the members of the Art Container (Kilian Ochs, Tanel Saar, Janno Bergmann), Federica Cogliandro & Giulia Lanza and Shiskin – Hokusai. Open Doors Day will conclude with Simon Whetham’s sound performance from 17:30 to 18:00 at Rae Schoolhouse.

On Saturday, June 9th, at 15:30, the presentation of the work of Federica Cogliandro & Giulia Lanza will take place and later Open Doors Day in Copper Leg Art Residency will follow. From 15:30 to 18:30 the visitors can discover residency space & its doings. There are also two new residents, metal artist Federica Cogliandro and textile artist Giulia Lanza, from Rome, Italy.

We invite you to the presentation of a joint art piece by Federica and Giulia, come to meet artists, and take a part of Open Doors Day in Copper Leg Art Residency. You are welcome to Rae Schoolhouse on Wormhole road, Copper Leg village, Rae parish (Ussiaugu tee, Vaskjala küla, Rae vald).

Dance performances & Open Doors Day

From 15:00 to 18:00 the visitors can discover residency space & its doings.

Although international dance month has just passed, we will continue with the theme of dance at the Copper Leg Residency. Following Open Doors Day at the Copper Leg Residency, two dance performances will be held by our artists in residence, starting at 18:00. Program one will be given by Tara Catherine Pandeya, a California-based dancer, who is a specialist of Central Asian traditional dance. Program two will be performed by Finnish dancer Outi Elena Valanto, a former longtime resident of Vienna who works primarily through the medium of contemporary dance. The evening will conclude with an audience-participatory traditional circle-based folk dance from Afghanistan lead by Tara! Cake and cookies will be offered to the audience, along with local Estonian honey products. Come enjoy this sweet dance experience and get better acquainted with our artists in residence!
