Copper Leg Residency & Gallery Metropol presents: Thomas Ellison (UK)

Vaskjala Loomeresidentuur alustab uue kontsertide ja heliperfokate sarjaga, mis toob residendid Tallinnasse, tutvustamaks neile kohalikku skeenet. Samuti toimivad performance´id teaserina, meelitamaks publikut Vaskjalga. Ei ole ohtu, et spoilime sellega residentuuri lõpuks planeeritava esinemise, kuna seal toimub juba midagi hoopis uut!
Esimene Metropoli galeriid väisav kunstnik on Thomas Ellison UK-st.

Thomas Ellison on praegu Ühendkuningriigis Teignmouthis elav muusik, kes on kolm aastat teinud muusikat nime Symbal all. Symbal on segamuusika, mis sisaldab elektroonilisi ja akustilisi instrumente, vokaali ja löökpille.


Mõned hiljutised koostöövormid hõlmavad muusika tegemist helikunsti projektile “Cities and Memory”, mis hõlmas välissalvestuste ümberkujundamist, ning laulu tegemist podcastile “Ears Have Eyes”. Praegu mängib ta trummigrupis, kus ta mängib peamiselt Aafrika ja Kariibi mere rütme.

Metropolis sünteesib Thomas mänguliselt elektroonilist ja akustilist, etteaste sisaldab elektroonilisi biite ja sämpleid, elektroonilist kalimbat bassina, hingeküllaseid tekste ja plokkflööti.

Külalisesinejatena astus üles Metropoli majakollektiiv koosseisus Meeland Sepp, Tuutu & Mari Prekup ning kolmanda artistina väisas lava Villem Jahu.

CopperLeg Residency is launching new series of events to introduce art-scene of Tallinn to our residents. As well act these events as kind of teasers to final presentations of residents in CopperLeg. No fear to spoil final event as it will be something completely different. First visiting artist in Metropol Gallery is Thomas Ellison from UK.

Thomas Ellison is a musician currently based in Teignmouth, UK, who has been making music under the name Symbal for three years. Symbal is mixed music, including electronic and acoustic instruments, vocals and percussion. Some recent collaborations include making music for the sound art project, Cities and Memory, which involved reimagining field recordings, and making a song for the Ears Have Eyes podcast. He currently play in a drumming group, playing mostly African and Caribbean rhythms.
In Metropol Thomas will be mixing the electronic and the acoustic in a playful
way, the performance will include electronic beats and samples, an electronic kalimba for bass, soulful lyrics and a recorder (flute).Special guests of the nights were local collective of the Metropol house Meeland Sepp, Tuutu & Mari Prekup + Villem Jahu.
